ICE CANDLES CHANDELIER | 2015

Chafik Studio created a chandelier for a public building in Algiers called "36 candles". It is composed of blown crystal candles lit by LEDs and each of its pieces is blown individually and cut randomly. Faceted tassels are placed inside each of the candles.

For the Rioloco festival exhibition, in the summer of 2009 in Toulouse, it was necessary to produce a PMMA version. The rendering of the material was different, it did not reproduce the original crystal object, so the candles were made using a lathe. It looked like candles made of ice. Chafik lit them with a cold source. A new chandelier was born: Ice Candles.
This work has benefited from the help of the Algerian Cultural Centre in Paris and the city of Toulouse.
